LYNN OOSTHUIZEN A little about yourself: I'm 23 years old, im currently studying at Unisa towards my LLB and specializing in cyber law. I also study finance and investment at Wits University. Why do you work out? I workout to improve my mental and physical threshold, the more I'm able to push myself physically and mentally the more im able to grow in my daily work and studies. What do you love about CrossFit Pretoria? I fell inlove with CrossFit Pretoria the moment I walked into my first demo class. You won't find a better support system anywhere else, all the members and coaches push you and motivate you beyond your limits and they make you realize how strong you truly are. Most memorable CrossFit Pretoria workout?
By far my most memorable workout was MAXTON, it's 13 rounds of fire burning lungs and sweat but I absolute enjoyed every moment of it. I couldn't finish and only managed to do 9 rounds but I'll definitely try to finish it next time. Tell us a little more about yourself: I volunteer at the husky rescue center as well as the CRC church in silverlakes. I love doing adventure activities on the weekends like hiking, horse riding or quad biking. My favorite foods are pizza's and burgers, I'll never say no to either of them.

A little about yourself:
I am a digital marketer, in the engineering industry - a marketeer if you like. I am also married to a chemical engineer. We have two basset hounds, and two cats. My favorite hero workout is the DT. Why do you work out? I only ever went to the gym to lose weight. It is not something I enjoy, or something I have ever been good at. I use the equipment incorrectly and frankly have no idea what I am doing in a gym. I am one of those people who get a gym membership, but then I end up not going after month two. I guess I don't really have a why for working out and that is why I have always failed. Trying to lose 5 kilograms is not a why. Here is my WHY for CrossFit. I do CrossFit because it is a way of life; a fitness and wellness journey. We moved away for two years and we couldn't do CrossFit anymore. It had a huge impact not only on my physical wellbeing, but also on my mental wellbeing. I really missed being part of a community, I missed the routine, I missed seeing progress and getting better at the things I thought were impossible. What do you love about CrossFit Pretoria? We are so excited that we are now close enough to join CrossFit Pretoria. Chad, Candice and Coenraad presented an Olympic lifting class when we were still at RTF, and we learned so much on the day. The coaches are incredible and I have learned so much from them already. CrossFit Pretoria is like moving into a new house, but one that becomes a home on the first day. The community is super friendly, open and inviting. I love the overall enthusiasm. I think it is very rare that people are so keen to participate in anything and everything, even Box Bingo. And I think these extra events / fun activities that people participate in outside of CrossFit does well to unite us even more. I love the way in which communication happens in the box, and the effort that goes into the makings of short box news clips. The facilities are great, large space, plenty of equipment, enough height for pull ups and double unders. Most importantly, the box has a strong ethos and set of values that I feel is really lived and embodied by the community. It forms the foundation for the culture at the box and it is beautiful. For me this box ticks all the boxes; it really has it all! Most memorable CrossFit Pretoria workout? The workouts are all a blur. I am just trying to survive them at this stage. What did stand out for me though was my first workout. I was in a hurry to sanitise and pack up my weights and the coach came over and asked me to wait until everyone finishes before I pack up. I guess it is like getting up whilst the rest of your family is still busy with their dinner. I didn't think about how others might feel if I pack up and they are still busy with the workout, but now I wait and cheer others on first. This is what CrossFit is all about for me. Maryke Viljoen A little about yourself: I am 35 years old and work for accountants in Sinoville. I am married to my best friend and a mom of 3 busy boys. Why do you work out? I work out because it makes me feel good about myself, after a good workout I feel if I can conquer the world... and I'd like to have biggger muscles than my husband 😂 What do you love about CrossFit Pretoria?
Our Bumblebee fan... Definitely the community, everybody is always rooting for everyone and our coaches are the best! Most memorable CrossFit Pretoria workout? Open workout 21.3, I didn't think I'll get any further than a few T2B and managed to get all 30! Tell us a little more about yourself: (Hobbies, favourite foods, music, interests, etc) I love reading murder mysteries & love stories. My favourite food is seafood and cheesecake for dessert. Chari Van Eck A little bit about yourself. I’m 23 years old, currently doing my Community service year in Physiotherapy at Mamelodi hospital. Why do you work out? Since a young age I have always been very active. I did a lot of different sports and you can definitely say that I have a love for any game. What do you love about CrossFit Pretoria?
Definitely the community that has become a family. From the friendly banter to the encouragement during the workouts, CFP has always made me feel welcome, since day one. Most memorable workout? Would probably be the Beer mile. Whoever thought that mixing beer and cardio for a fun workout would be a great idea, needs to rethink life. Tell us a little more about yourself. Other than working out I love to spend my weekends either hiking or engaging in an intense game of 30 seconds. A lekker braai with good company is always ‘n good idea. A little about yourself:
My name is Kgopotso but everyone calls me Sparks or the ink doctor, I am 33 👀 comes as a shock because apparently I look 26 🕺🏽🥰 lol and I work as a professional tattoo artist since 2010 and also run a water and ice business to help two of my brothers since they were unemployed. Oh we also do corporate identity and branding. Why do you work out? Health is wealth and I want a stunning body. What do you love about CrossFit Pretoria? The vibe. Friendly members and the coaches always show best interest in making sure you getting those goals you set out. Most memorable CrossFit Pretoria workout? Any workout with Burpees 🤣 I hate them. Tell us a little more about yourself: I enjoy Listening to hip hop, rap, ebb and soul. Since I’ve been with CrossFit Pretoria I’ve started listening to rock/metal, it is actually hood music haha. My interests are : cycling and exploring South Africa / Africa Hobbies : I game PS, Xbox is for the weak 😅😅 hahaha Food: don’t have a favorite plate but anything that’s good for my body, I’ll consume it (except for pork). |
